Choosing a Monument

Monuments come in a variety of sizes, colours and shapes. We at Liben are specialists in customers' needs and cemetery regulations and can assist you in choosing a monument that is appropriate.

The 5-Point Guide

Essential considerations for selecting a monument.

01.

Size

The size of the monument, whether double or single, is regulated by the cemetery.

02.

Finish

Monuments are available in a variety of finishes, including polished, matte, and natural stone textures. Many styles are available for viewing in our showroom.

03.

Colours

Granite comes in a multitude of colours. Gray, charcoal, black and rose are the most commonly used, because they give the best engraving contrast.

04.

Design

Traditional Jewish symbols may be engraved on the monument (e.g. Star of David, Menorah). However, if one has a particular symbol in mind, we can try to accommodate you, as long as it conforms to cemetery/Synagogue regulations.

05.

Text

The text usually includes names, dates and sentimental feelings. The Hebrew or Yiddish names of the deceased and the deceased father or mother (depending on your tradition), and the Hebrew date of the death are generally included.

Granite comes in a multitude of colours. Gray, charcoal, black and rose are the most commonly used, because they give the best engraving contrast. However, other colours are available. Colors aren't a matter of tradition but rather a matter of taste.
